RCMP MEMBERS, DO THEY NEED GREATER DEPTH IN DEFENSIVE TACTICS TRAINING?

Police officer attacked. Unhurt. These attacks are increasing in frequency, does this signal a need for more extensive defensive tactics training?

I trained with our Canadian Military Police, Victoria Police n other departments in defensive tactics.

A number of Members signed up but senior management forced them to withdraw.

Too bad. The skills learned save lives.

When I taught Seattle Police Officers and King County Sheriff's Deputies, my task was to demonstrate how ineffective and dangerous their skill levels were, then teach them defensive skills; weapon retention, suspect take-down and control and ground fighting techniques. Officer assaults were primary with every trainee leaving the program with the skills to prevent being attacked.
