MILK COWS & ROBOTS

Zero human interaction. Robots wash, feed, milk and dispose of manure.

Interesting advancement, one which was widely expected. My experience interacting with Washington State dairy farmers has me questioning what is missing; cleanliness. In a non-robotic operation cows are washed before they enter the sanitary milking stanchion, the utters are sanitized (as with robots) then they are massaged to stimulate milk flow. No diary person with whom I worked would walk through manure as they do in the video.

The Holstein cows produced considerably more with a positive, human interactive environment. Several dairymen played classical music and had proven to themselves that doing so created contented cows which produced more.

Great post Jackson. Thanks. I haven't thought of contented cows for some time😁
