“A tremendous accomplishment by our investigate teams in resolving a seven-year-old homicide, with two individuals now charged with murder,” Kamloops RCMP Supt. Jeff Pelley said, in a Saturday (Sept. 19) statement.

“This is a testament of the persistence, commitment, investigative skill and unwavering determination of our Serious Crime Unit and those that contributed over the years,” Pelley added.

"On the morning of Jan. 23, 2019, 41-year-old Rex Edward Gill was smoking a cigarette outside the Comfort Inn and Suites Hotel in Aberdeen when he was shot.

Police later said they believed Gill’s death was a case of mistaken identity and that he was not associated with any criminal activity."
