JOURNALIST ELABORATES ON TRUDEAU'S LAME APOLOGY

"This is the beautiful thing about so many Indigenous Peoples: No matter what crap is thrown at us – from genocidal laws and policies aimed to extinguish us, to racists yelling for us to get off the sidewalk – we rise. Our existence is our resistance. That isn’t just a slogan. It is the truth."

Patience is a quality I observed as a guest at Nuu-chah-nulth & federal fisheries negotiations. Regardless of the ignorance expressed by the Ottawa speakers, the Elders remained calm, stone faced, emotions masked as they watched & listened, stopping periodically to converse with their legal team.

Dr. Simon Lucas of the Nuu-chah-nulth negotiating team told me once, "Jon, you don't know how to tell time. To be successful you must learn our time."

He was correct. https://www.jonathanmccormick.com/forum/indigenous-leadership/dr-simon-lucas-nuu-chah-nulth-elder
