Parents, where do you stand?
As a teacher I welcome them in class as a learning tool n have extras for those without one.
My grandson complained to his Mom that I texted him at 10 am saying, "Doesn't he know I'm in class?"
My daughter replied, "Your phone is supposed to be off n be thankful he cares enough to communicate with you".

We can all see where this is going, the rich districts supply the tablets and the poor go without adding yet another demension to inequities in education. I agree with the writer commenting about lessons being so challenging that students are not drawn to their phones.
