VIOLENT CRIMINAL WHO SHOT MOUNTIE RELEASED.

⚠️ Public Safety Notice ⚠️

by BCRCMP

"The man who shot and nearly killed a Kamloops RCMP Member in 2014 has been released on statutory release.

Kenneth Michael Knutson served two-thirds of his 16.5-year sentence for attempted murder after firing six shots at a Member during a traffic stop. He was deemed high risk to reoffend while in custody and had multiple incidents involving contraband, drug violations, and violence.

Knutson is now subject to strict conditions, including:

• No contact with the Member

• A ban on entering Kamloops

• Mandatory residence at a half-way house

• No drugs, alcohol, or criminal associations

We’re sharing this to ensure our dedicated Members and the public are aware of his release and ongoing safety concerns. If you see suspicious activity concerning Knutson, please contact police immediately."

A strong argument for mandatory Life Sentence for any assault on a police officer.

It's regrettable that Canada doesn't have the death penalty for this crime. In lieu of that I agree that life in prison without parole should be mandatory.
