ATHLETICISM

NHL BOB PULFORD, "BOBBY" PASSED AWAY.

I knew Bobby as kids in Ontario. When I moved to California I took my friends to a Los Angeles Blades game. They had never seen hockey before and I asked them if they wanted to meet one of the players.

Of course they thought my offer was teenage boasting until I walked down to the ice and yelled, "Hey Bobby!"

He signed autographs for them and made their day.

"Bob Pulford grew up and played his early hockey in Weston, Ontario, living there with his family from about 1940 to 1950, attending Weston Collegiate, and playing for local teams before his professional career. He was a prominent figure in the Weston sports scene, playing football, lacrosse, and hockey, and his formative years in the suburb were crucial to his development as a hockey player."

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Bob Pulford, one of the most respected figures in the history of hockey. Bob’s remarkable career spanned decades and left an enduring mark on the game at every level. As a player, Bob proudly wore the sweaters of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Los Angeles Kings. With Toronto, he won four Stanley Cups and earned a reputation as one of the toughest, most dependable centres of his era. He later brought that same leadership and competitive spirit to the Los Angeles Kings, continuing to influence the game through his experience and professionalism. Bob won the Lester Patrick trophy in 2011, continuing to demonstrate his talents."https://x.com/NHLAlumni/status/2008269805074235566?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2008269805074235566%7Ctwgr%5E026a8118e27c270d6bd207e74ffc76edd4129af4%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tsn.ca%2Fnhl%2Farticle%2Fhall-of-famer-pulford-dead-at-89%2F
