"A majority of Americans believe that abortion should be legal in all or most cases. But the story is more complicated in the states where the future of abortion policy is likely to be decided if — as is now expected — the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade."

My thanks to the New York Times for the article and map.
Thank you Jackson for your candor. "I have no opinion and as one of my female friends said, "You never will until you acquire a uterus"
Far too many men are confusing the issue. It is not pro-abortion but pro-human rights.
I'm not going to debate this issue here. Thank you Jackson for your sincerity. You received wise advice from your female friends.
It would appear Canadians and Americans share the reality that abortion is in neither of their constitutions. The difference as I see it is abortion is decided state by state whereas in Canada it was decriminalized in 1988 nationally leaving access to each province.
Great post Steve. Thanks. The same goes for Canada in that the right to an abortion is not in our Charter of Rights. From what I can find the problem here is that women often have to leave their city or province of residence to obtain the needed medical treatment. I believe increasing access is what the current government is seeking to remedy. The post above with comments by Professor Gilbert, an expert in Constitutional law explains a great deal.
"Gilbert said it is more likely instead that the Liberals will make good on their election promise to strengthen the Canada Health Act to ensure that provinces have to comply with "equality of access to abortion" across the country."
The left is trying to scare people into thinking constitutional rights already heard and accepted by the Supreme Court will be overturned as well. Interracial marriage?? Come on. Even Ruth Bader said Roe vs Wade should have never been heard by the Supreme Court. There is nothing in the constitution regarding abortion.
Canada does not have legislation guaranteeing access to an abortion.
"To protect abortion rights in the future under all governments, constitutional law expert and University of Ottawa professor Daphne Gilbert told CTV's Your Morning the federal government would have to make an amendment to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. However, she said this likely would not happen."

Don't fret!
"If a party were to introduce legislation to re-criminalize abortion in Canada in the future, Gilbert said it would be "extremely difficult" for such an attempt to withstand constitutional challenge."
Our thanks to Ron M. for the post.
In support of my female friends & relatives in Canada and America.
My thanks to Danielle S. for the post.
I never thought of repercussions like Canadians getting involved. But with our proximity I guess it is inevitable social issues will cross borders.
A friend shared this, origin unknown but it segues with my above comments.
This is what Americans are facing. Canadians? Not yet. Depending which party has the majority in the next election. Liberals/NDP or Conservatives/People's Party of Canada.
"A high-profile U.S. women's rights lawyer worries that if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns the case that legalized abortion in the U.S., it would be the first step in eroding other hard-won rights, such as same-sex or interracial marriage."
