Women in stress

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." Albert Einstein

Einstein made a sweeping declaration with that definition much of which is inaccurate.

Women who stay in an abusive relationship often have a myriad of reasons, many relating to the threat of violence.

My domestic violence survivor students share their exit experiences and none reflect an insane woman.

Please, if you or someone you know is dealing with violence in their lives, share this information and help them with an exit strategy...starting with a women's resource center in her community.

Below is a beginning.

Just because I am a woman poster

"There are 90 organizations in British Columbia that provide domestic violence services at some level. A total of 41 organizations have provided complete information about their program to this site for a statewide completion rate of 45%. These programs can be found in 35 different cities." Thank you for this post for it speaks directly to what many women and girls deal with daily. In Santa Barbara, Pen and I established and oversee El Refugio, The Refuge, a remodeled motel with each former homeless teenage girl having her own room, all meals and 24/7 security provided. They are bussed to and from the high school where everyone completes their minimum education then move on to post-secondary institutions. They will be the generation which doesn't accept ill treatment from anyone, particularly a man and be successful financially and emotionally.

Too tall an order? Too idealistic. No, it wasn't. Just a dream Pen and I shared and were fortunate to obtain the financial backing from wealthy supporters.
