30,000 Secrets

30,000 Secrets and the “J” Team series portray women struggling with violence. The characters share their successes, failures, overcoming fears and apprehensions through emotionally griping dialog and defensive tactics. The agents’ physical and emotional responses to antagonists draw the reader to the protagonists’ techniques and style used to overcome adversity. Jessica, Rebecca and Elisabeth encourage readers; to leave abusive situations, to change their environment and to accomplish their goals and dreams. Jackson and Jason exemplify supportive colleagues, comfortable with their sexuality/masculinity, exemplifying male behavior appreciated by many women.

The team’s genesis is a hand-picked group of Secret Service agents who have either questionable track records or are seeking return to mainstream assignments from policing the world; Spencer from North Africa fighting Al Qaeda, Elisabeth in the UK failing to work with male MI6 agents, Rebecca dissatisfied with being sequestered to the FBI ferreting out First Nations bombers in Arizona and New Mexico and Jackson, a disillusioned graduate of Michigan’s Teacher college. The Team is led by University of California-Berkeley Law School graduate Jessica Fukishura, a Toronto native and combat martial artist who struggles with her own demons, sexuality and disdain for the male population in general and law enforcement in particular.

Being assigned by Washington to ensure StoneHead, Wyoming was safe for a G-8 Security Summit, the “J” Team executed a warrantless raid on the Christians for a Better America’s remote StoneHead farm suspecting hidden chemicals were going to be used against the federal government. The discovery led to a firefight, the capture of all but the leader who escaped through a cattle culvert and went into hiding.

The Team regroups at President Bakus’ family ranch in StoneHead with Jessica deploying Jason undercover to the Christian Evangelical University in Colorado where graduate students are developing specific explosives and delivery mechanisms.

Jessica leaves hacker Elisabeth cultivating information from her computer science classes at StoneHead Junior High and track all communications in and out of StoneHead, while Jackson is to do likewise with his History curriculum at the senior high.until Fukishura mobilizes the duo to Los Angeles to tap numerous conversations of suspected terrorists. Jessica’s conflicts, her disdain for men and authority, reaches an apex with her need to ask for investigative assistance from two county sheriffs and the StoneHead chief of police. Her reputation preceding her request, she is astounded by the collective response.

Rebecca and veterinarian Dr. Penelope Barker develop a relationship which transcends business during a shopping spree in Denver, Colorado where they savor the luxury of the Four Seasons, local cuisine and discover intimate details about each other they can’t ignore. Christians for a Better America believes they have outsmarted the FBI and continue their quest to control the White House and Congress with conservative candidates, unaware that the “J” Team is collaborating with three other law enforcement agencies or that a female SEAL has developed an international crime tracking software program, CHAP, highlighting CFBA activities in Canada and the US.

RCMP Sky Marshal Karen Winthrop is sequestered to the Canadian Security Intelligence Services through numerous covert meetings and is assigned to investigate stolen radio-active material from a Manitoba mine believed to be destined for Los Angeles. During the process, she and Toronto Detective Tom Hortonn enjoy down time in Whistler’s elegance, staying at the Fairmont Chateau and dining at Araxi and the Longhorn. During their weekend getaway, they are attacked by drunks doing the pub walk, the resulting mayhem bringing the RCMP detachment commander to their dinner table. The Secret Service Agents track the CFBA insurgents, using CHAP, the North American law enforcement investigative synchronized data base, from Manitoba to Alberta through Idaho, Minnesota and California.

Cuisine and fashion enhance the readers’ identification with the protagonists as the agents dine in some of the country’s finest restaurants and shop at Nordstrom in Denver/Vancouver, BC., Toronto’s Holt Renfrew and specialty boutiques from coast to coast.
